Small but strong group go to BUCS Standard

Only 5 athletes made the trip down to Southport for BUCS Standard this year. This may be due in part to the fact that it was only a week after varsity.

Nevertheless, there were some great performances. In particular, Laura John had an incredible race, coming 5th and thus solidly achieving the Full Blue standard (and beating some elite athletes in the process!). Charlotte Kirk raced well to come 15th and Laura Clark did well in her first ever Olympic distance triathlon.

On the men's side, Joe Bowness was tantalizing close to the Full Blue standard, being just 1 place and a handful of seconds off. Still, 16th place isn't bad at all. After a disappointing varsity race (where he punctured and had to pull out), John Gardner was able to show what he's capable of and raced well to come 27th.
