Committee

Meet your committee for the 2011-2012 academic year! If you are new to triathlon, or just want to find out about the club then it's probably best to email Lee, Andy or Marie.

Last thing – join the OUTriC Facebook group to meet the rest of the club (or just come to training!).

We also have a senior member in the form of Chris Martin at Mansfield.

President

Lee Harper
Merton

Lee started triathlon in 2009, after a set of crippling running injuries, and has rapidly risen through the ranks. When he's not training, he's probably sitting in a sub-basement lab surrounded by lasers and computers, and getting itchy feet!

Men's Captain

Andy Tinkler
St.Hilda's

Ex-rower who decided that sitting in a boat in the snow in the middle of January doing tap-downs wasn't actually that fun, and triathletes are much more friendly anyway.
Has progressed even further than Ed to peak his swimming career at the 3rd lane in the pool (though how long this will last is yet to be seen)....and has no intention of lettting Ed forget this.

Women's Captain

Marie McHugh
University

Another medic doing triathlon?? Oh yes. Loves the swim and the run, opinion on the cycle depends on how windy it is. Also loves the lycra onesies (good enough to rival those rowers) ...but loves her team mates most of all :) Current goal: to get hold of a road bike! Watch this space

Treasurer

Katie Truslove
Worcester

Having started her triathlon 'career' competing on her town-bike (...with the basket still attached!), Katie is hopeful that the coming season will prove a little more successful. She is also gradually learning that going cycling is not all about the mid-ride picnic, though if there is one, all the better!

Secretary

Ben Greenfield
Pembroke

After a breast-stroked start to varsity followed by a gentle walk into T1, Ben found the meaning of endurance sport - and that he was doing it wrong.  Current ambition is to perfect the tumble turn, which he is expecting to shave ~15s off each length in a pool.  After that, he should probably learn how to swim, ..... and cycle and run!
 Social Secretary

Hannah Johnston
Pembroke

Also a converted rower (but manned up to the snowy mornings to keep both sports up for 2 years), triathlon is now Hannah's priority. Coming from a strong swimming background, however not too good on the bike, Hannah is learning well - screaming during cleat-induced falls only attracts more attention. The greatest achievement so far was finishing the bike leg before Lee crossed the finish line...

Webmaster

Gianni Cotugno
Merton

Crazy southern Italian with some borderline racist views about those from the north, Gianni is a talented triathlete with an unfortunate penchent for mechanical failures during big races... but boy does he know how to have a good time!

Alumni Officer

Ed Heywood-Lonsdale
Lincoln

Having taken up triathlon a year ago Ed has high hopes for 2012 and points to his recent success of being promoted out of the slow lane on Tuesday nights as evidence of his potential. Frequently mocked by housemates for practising tying his shoelaces, Ed has realised that clubmates put comparatively time into training for this 4th discipline and it is here that he aims to truly shoe Cambridge in June.

Press Officer

Xander Ryan
Worcester

Having done running and cycling at school, Xander decided to learn how to swim and stick all three sports together. He is now a confirmed Triathlon obsessive. His job as Press Officer is to write race reports for the big club races.
